Flowers As Art

By co-incidence, two of the nation’s principal art galleries currently have beautiful outdoor displays of flowers.

The National Gallery in London has put together a wonderful ‘painting’ made up of real flowers.  I could watch this short YouTube video about its making for hour – it is mesmerising…

And to mark the opening of the Scottish National Gallery’s blockbuster summer exhibition, Inspiring Impressionism, flowers adorn the building’s front pillars.  Although they are not real like the flowers in the painting, they are still gorgeous and capture perfectly the spirit of the impressionist movement – genius!  I can’t wait to visit the exhibition for the first time next week and I have a feeling there will be many more visits to come before it closes.

One can never have too many flowers in one’s life. 🙂

  1. I love the flowery elements to the major galleries. How pretty it all is. I like the quote too, having a garden that boasts flowers all year round. Flowers in our garden at the moment? Lilies, roses, pansies, marigolds, geraniums, lobelia, daisies, campanulas, pinks, nepeta, alstroemerias, poppies, osteospermum, penstemon to name but a few!! Really looking forward to visiting the exhibition at the Scottish national in September. X
