Back in April, I wrote about how my sister was coping with the sudden onset of alopecia. At that time, we thought she had alopecia areata. Since then, she has experienced total body hair loss – alopecia universalis.
But Rach being Rach, she continues to have a marvellous ‘it is what it is’ outlook on life. Part of this includes a wish to help other alopecians. So we have started a new blog together – Bald As Brass – where we can share thoughts, reflections and ideas about embracing life, no matter what it throws at us.
I’d love you to check it out sometime (if nothing else, you might enjoy the cute photo of the two of us here). We would welcome any feedback, so do let me/us know what you think! ๐
Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving; we get stronger and more resilient.

The quote is spot on, though we do sometimes get weaker before we get stronger.

Yes, agree – sometimes it is hard to identify when we have reached the bottom of the curve before we can start coming back up again. I guess the important thing is to make sure we come up the other side at some point ๐

I have Bold as Brass open now. (Love the picture of you both!) I’ll look properly later but already I can see that the message extends wider than supporting those going through the same experience as Rachel. I’m looking forward to reading it properly (and following ๐ ) Meanwhile, congrats to you both for taking such a strong, positive and open-hearted stance ๐

Oh thank you so much, Sandra – what lovely comments. And you are right – we have tried to take the approach of producing material which is directly relevant to alopecians but also helpful to others too. I really appreciate your engagement with and support for our new venture. ๐ x

Thank you for all your lovely comments – Bald as Brass has been an amazing journey so far, we are only a couple of weeks in and it is great to have you all along for the ride. I am not a natural writer so I can say with certainty stepping out of your comfort zone is a riot. xx
