Every now and then, the internet makes it possible for us to stumble across wonderful gifts and treasures. This is a beautifully animated recording of a woman, Ellaraino, recalling her first meeting with her 106-year-old great-grandmother, created by the wonderful StoryCorps.
In less than 3 minutes, we hear all we need to know about the importance of hope, self-belief and, above all, how we should never presume to judge others. Ellaraino’s story is moving and inspirational – a memorable testament to the power of the human spirit and a fitting legacy indeed for Silvia.
A great story and a reminder that one can never and must never stop learning. x

That was really nice, although a life without reading is something I can hardly imagine. It really i never to late to learn anything we put our mind too.

Way too easy and we know we will regret it at some point.

an amazing and thought provoking story… history matters, and people’s stories hold the truths that history sometimes obfusctates, and that children never get to hear or understand…..

so very true – how marvellous and essential that the internet allows us to access these stories which would perhaps otherwise remain largely buried.

Such a wonderful story. My parents never shared their personal history with my children. Such a loss

That is such a shame – we all have important stories to tell, even if we donโt think they are particularly interesting to others. I guess this is easily forgotten in the hurly-burly of life. Thank you for stopping by on the blog – itโs great to have your company! ๐

Iโm very glad you shared this, Liz. Itโs special. It also reminds me a little of my visits with my grandma and hearing her tell her stories.
