My gorgeous husband and I share many things in common but we have totally opposite views on books. While I sit surrounded by piles of books I am sure I will one day read, Stephen on the other hand has a handful of beloved titles that he has read many times and so knows with great depth and understanding.
One of his favourite annual traditions is to read Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Sometimes it is just to himself. Sometimes it is a special treat for me to hear him read out loud while I sit knitting.
This year he has taken things to a new level. Stephen is an expert YouTuber and so has a range of high-quality recording and editing equipment. This has enabled him to produce a podcast version of A Christmas Carol which I am delighted to be able to share with you. This is a veritable showcase of his many talents – he has even played and recorded the music used for the introductions to each chapter and at the end of the reading.
In his podcast blurb, Stephen says “I profess no great acting skill, but I do hope my love for this book comes across in the telling.” It sure does. Love you Hub! ❤️

Thank you very much for the Christmas present, Liz! I listened to the first two chapters while I was wrapping Christmas presents this morning. Steve isn’t a professional actor or voice artist? His reading, as well as the production values of the podcast, are very professional, impressively so. He brought each of the different characters to life with a separate voice. I hope the podcast attracts a wide audience. It certainly deserves it!

I’ve started to listen and I’m full of admiration. Steve’s reading is full of character and his admiration of the book really does come across in his professionally produced podcast. Congratulations Steve and we’ll done to you both on the graphics and music. Xx

OH MY GOODNESS!!! Steve is brilliant – his voice carries all of the emotional intent that Charles Dickens infused in his words. As you know I’ve been looking forward to this all year long. The Budd family will be having a wonderful Christmas listening to Steve’s voice. Love and hugs to you and Steve. Miss you!!!

I have “A Christmas Carol” podcast starred for repeat listens. Steve has a marvelous voice. It is as if Charles Dickens is reading the narrative.

We are both so pleased that you are enjoying this so much. Steve started out doing it simply because he loves the book. A good enough reason in itself of course. But having other people along for the ride adds a marvellous extra layer of fun! X

Reblogged this on Book to the Future and commented:
In the spirit of the season, I am attempting to give, whilst being as cheap as I can possibly be as well, and who doesn’t love something free, literary, and quintessentially Christmassy?
If you’re not alredy, follow Liz, it won’t bother the bank balance but tick the seasonal giving and receiving box nicely.

Thanks for this! I am excited to chill out one night and listen to this, it’s the only time I can really do anything in the way of an audiobook. Very excited to dive in!

I’ve been listening to it on and off due to work and having little time to myself to concentrate but Christmas Eve will be the time I really settle down for it, it is the perfect time!
